We are pleased to announce two new releases:
"FANTASY" is a CD of music for violin and piano featuring the incredible violinist Kaoru Yamada and the outstanding pianist Sholto Kynoch, artistic director of the Oxford Lieder Festival. The disc focuses on the Fantasies of Messiaen, Schoenberg and Schubert and includes other related pieces. It opens with Messiaen's La Mort du nombre, a piece for violin, piano, soprano and tenor, featuring two rising stars of the singing world: soprano Rhona McKail and tenor Nicky Spence and as well as the Messiaen Fantaisie it also includes the only other Messiaen work for violin and piano: Thème et variations. The Schoenberg Phantasy is then followed by the Fantasie of Schubert. The disc concludes, also vocally, with Schubert's song, which formed the basis of his Fantasie, Sei mir gegrüsst!. This incredible CD is a stunning performance of a fascinating programme.

"THE COMPLETE BUTTERWORTH SONGBOOK" features baritone Mark Stone and pianist Stephen Barlow. Mark and Stephen's long collaboration has focused on the English song repertoire and this first complete recording of all thirty of Butterworth's songs is a fantastic addition to their increasing discography. It features the ever-popular Six songs from 'A Shropshire lad' and the less well known group of Housman settings Bredon Hill and other songs. It includes the world-première recording of the piano version of the W.E. Henley cycle Love blows as the wind blows and the Eleven folk songs from Sussex, eight of which are also world-première recordings - the remaining three are no longer available elsewhere. Butterworth's early song Haste on, my joys! was only discovered in 2001 and is given its world-première recording on the disc. Recordings of the remaing three songs (I will make you brooches, I fear thy kisses and Requiescat) are no longer available. As a bonus, the disc features a short film of George Butterworth Morris dancing from the archives of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. This recording was generously supported by the RVW Trust. Mark and Stephen are on top form and this CD is must for anyone interested in English song.
